Summer 2026 Cohort
Mexic-Arte Museum currently offers paid internships to current undergraduate students in the Austin Area.
Mexic-Arte Museum has served as a pipeline for the professional development of emerging Latinx artists and arts administrators, as well as given a spotlight to established artists. Our internship program aims to cultivate the next generation of museum professionals by offering hands-on experience and career-building opportunities.
Interns will gain valuable skills through projects in various departments, working under the mentorship of museum professionals. This program provides the chance to build professional networks, enhance creativity and critical thinking, and apply practical knowledge in a real-world setting.
We are looking for interns who are flexible, organized, self-motivated, and eager to collaborate in a professional environment. Ideal candidates will bring enthusiasm, creativity, and a passion for the arts, and will be encouraged to contribute their ideas to meaningful projects.
This program is made possible by the support of the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) initiative: Latino Museum Initiative Expansion Project, which is designed to provide opportunities for internships and fellowships at American Latino museums for students enrolled in Institutions of Higher Education, including Hispanic-Serving Institutions.
Program Information
Spring, summer, and fall internships run for ten weeks with a commitment of 10 hours per week during office hours (Monday-Thursday 9 am-6 pm and Friday 9 am-5 pm).
Pay rate: $22/h
Requirements
*Current Undergraduate student in the Austin, TX area.

The Digital Media intern will assist in organizing assets, strategizing updates the website, add past content and build new event pages, improve its accessibility, and create and utilize SEO/marketing trends and management practices.The main project for the Fall 26’ semester assisting with the 5th St Mexican American Cultural District webpages. Other tasks include archiving past exhibitions and events and working with the Collections team to learn how to photograph, categorize, and archive high-quality images and put them into Mexic-Arte’s Past Perfect database and the Culture Connect platform.
